So you’ve been thinking about it but don’t think you can pull it off. You don’t think they’re the right size to try it, huh? You’ve seen everyone else take the plunge but worry that you don’t have what it takes, right? Well, you’re wrong. I’m giving you permission to ditch your outrageous pinks, oranges, and reds for a day (or two) so that you can go nude – with a lipstick, that is. Of course, every woman wants her makeup to make a statement: bold, sexy, playful, or natural. But sometimes a more subtle approach can broaden your beauty perspective and capture more of your best features. So go ahead, take off that poppin’ lipstick, and trade it in for a little nudity. Read how you can become comfortable getting naked.
- Examine Your Brand of Nude — Only you know your perfect nude lip: whether you’ve seen your favorite celebrities rock it on the red carpet or your best girlfriends wear it for a night on the town, you’ve seen an ideal image of a nude lip. Nudes can be the exact shade of your lip color, a pink or peach nude, or a pasty nude (that can be absolutely dazzling if applied correctly). Determine if you’d like a matte, sheer, glossy, or amplified finish. Once you establish the right nude for you, the application process will become a little easier.
- Nudity can Sometimes be Concealed – Depending on the shade of nude you choose, you may have to mute the actual shade of own lips in order to create the ideal look. Take a foundation brush or sponge with a little foundation or concealer, apply it briskly over your lips, and swipe your favorite nude shade for all-over nude glamour. This technique helps to keep your makeup and lip color in sync while making the transition between you and whatever nude fits you seamless.
- Draw the Line with Your Nudity — If the thought of going for a bold nude lipstick frightens you to no end, try first lining your lips with a flesh-toned liner similar to your complexion, being sure to subtly apply the liner, and then carefully place your lip color inside those lines. If the color seems a little harsh, blot your lips together and work the color until you’re satisfied or take a small sheet of tissue blotting any excess color.
- Smoke n’ Nudity — One of the best ways to pair an amazing nude lipstick is with a stunning smoky eye. Let your eyes do all your talking while your lips just sexily play in the background. So amp up those gorgeous eyes, put on your best nude lip, and gloss it up. I promise you’ll be the center of attention and the eye of someone’s attraction.
