The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expecting! Of course this is a very exciting time for Britain as the child will be third in line to the throne.
The announcement came last Monday after Kate Middleton was hospitalised with morning sickness. Kate Middleton has since been discharged from King Edwards VII private hospital last Thursday.

Will and Kate
However, last Tuesday, two DJs at an Australian radio station (2DayFM) made a prank call to the hospital Kate was staying at. The presenters pretended to be the Queen and her son Charles, the Prince of Wales.
The call was answered by nurse Jacintha Saldanha who then transferred the call to another nurse who spoke about Kate’s condition.
The Australian radio DJ’s then headed to Twitter to brag about the prank call. Three days later, Jacintha Saldanha was found dead in a suspected suicide. Will and Kate never complained about the incident and were deeply saddened by Jacintha’s death.
Since then, the Australian DJ’s have been suspended and are also receiving counseling.

Jacintha Saldanha
I was honestly shocked when I first listened to the prank call. I couldn’t believe that someone would fall for it. The call was too comical for it to be taken seriously; there was barking in the background and ‘Prince Charles’ was saying ‘mommy, mommy’.
The second thing I found very shocking was the fact that the second nurse gave information about Kate’s condition as if there are no privacy laws to protect hospital patients.
It was just so strange to me how trusting the nurses were, but then again, who knows why they believed the DJ’s?
But surely if the Queen ever wanted to know Kate’s condition, she would go through someone else first rather than contacting the hospitals herself?! It just didn’t make any sense to me.
While at the time it may have been fun and jokes for the DJ’s, they clearly didn’t think of the consequences to their actions. It is devastating that Jacintha had to take her life over this. I hope the DJ’s are taken off air permanently!
Do you think this prank call went too far? Who is to blame here, the nurses or the radio station DJ’s?
